If you
are moving into a new home, there are probably a lot of things on your mind and
a lot of things you need to do.
However,
a move-in cleaning is not something you should forget in all that mayhem.
As
cleaning experts from Maid
Easy in Phoenix, AZ say, there are numerous advantages of doing a
move in cleaning. Here are just some of them.
Hygiene
Well,
the first and the most obvious reason why you would want to clean your house
before you move in is the same reason why you wash your clothes before you wear
them for the first time.
Even
though it might look relatively clean (which is not a given), your new home
might just be superficially cleaned and be in fact fairly dirty underneath.
Try
walking indoors in white socks, or using a damp tissue (or a wet wipe) on the
floor. More likely than not, you will end up with a lot of dust and dirt on a
white surface.
And if
you don’t do anything about it, it will stay there and you will be breathing it
in.
Schedule It In
A lot
of people have the same (weak) excuse for not doing this important step towards
moving in. They will say that they have so much to do, they can’t do it right
now, and there are more pressing issues to attend to.
Even
though this is true, and there are plenty of important things which need to be
done before you can move in, cleaning is fairly important in itself.
The
solution is to have a day or at least a few hours planned for this. When you
are making your move in plans, don’t forget cleaning. Not only will you
suddenly find the time for it, but you will also feel a lot better knowing this
task has been done.
You Might Make a Mess
There are
a lot of things which you need to bring over from your old home to your new
one. Including some things which have been lying around in the basement or the
attic for a really long time.
Chances
are that these things aren’t particularly clean and that you will make a bit of
a mess while moving in.
This
mess needs to be cleaned at some point, and a move in cleaning is the best
time. Not only will you be in the cleaning mood, but you will also have all the
necessary equipment and supplies at hand.
What Needs to Be Done
If you
have never done a full house cleaning, you might be a bit overwhelmed with the
task ahead of you.
However,
with good planning and a bit of help, you can do it very effectively and
quickly. One tip which most professional
cleaners will tell you is to start from the top and work your way to
the bottom.
The Bathrooms
Your
bathroom walls probably need to be scrubbed and sanitized, as well as your
floors.
Additionally,
all of the surfaces need to be wiped down and sanitized, just to be safe. The
same goes for the toilet and the sink. Check
for mold or limescale while you are doing it.
The Kitchen
Another
room which requires special attention, your kitchen will need to be thoroughly
sanitized, and that includes your counters, the sink, and the appliances,
especially the fridge and the stove.
The Rest of the House
The
rest of the house needs attention too, so start with dusting everything and
wiping it down with a dry or slightly damp rag.
Don’t
forget things like light fixtures, ceiling fans, and blinds.
Vacuuming
all the rugs and carpets and mopping everything else goes without saying.
There
are other small things which you can do to make your new home really shine, but
if you follow these most important guidelines, you will have a clean house for
the new beginning.
