Easy ways to cozy up your home

One of the biggest compliments you can get about your home is that it is cozy, because that means that your home is inviting, friendly, and comfortable. That is what makes a house or an apartment - a home. But, how does one cozy up his or her home? Well, you only need your creativity. However, we understand that that is not everyone's strongest suit, so we are offering our help. Thus, if you need some creative, innovative, but at the same time very simple and cheap ideas for cozying up your home, keep on reading.

Lightning is Important!

With lighting, you can create any type of atmosphere you desire in your home. And, luckily, updating your in-home lighting or just changing it and it using it to your favor are one of those improvements that are more than affordable. Start by removing any harsh, single overhead lighting from the rooms you want to make cozy. Instead, focus on creating an abundance of lighting. For example, add a lot of floor lamps, table lamps, string lights, and scented candles.

Moreover, you need to pay attention to the lighting temperature as well. Namely, you should banish those cold temperature lights from your home. We can all agree that those make us feel like we are in a hospital or in an interrogation room. So, replace those cold, neon lights with something with warmer bulbs and you will be surprised what a difference that can make.

Add Rugs, Pillows, and Throws

Hardwood flooring, and even laminate and tiles, can be excellent solutions. But, when those cold months come, we all get chilly under our feet. Again, there is an easy way to fix that. Place rugs and mats in areas you spend your time the most and the areas you want to make more comfy and cozy. Also, if your budget allows it, consider investing in one big area rug and then, add a layer of multiple smaller ones where necessary, for an even better result.

A home is not a home without pillows and throws. They are not just decoration, they are a necessity. We use them to warm ourselves up and, of course, to make everything feel more inviting and comfortable. Thus, buy them in bulk. They are a cheap investment but still something that will enrich your daily life. However, if you want to splurge, you can always go for those big furry pillows and snuggly throws that cost a little bit more.

Bring Nature Inside

Plants and flowers are amazing as they bring life to any home. But, they do not do only that - they also contribute to the cozy sensation. So, if you have none of them in your home yet, it is time to bring them in. You can buy any type you like or you think will fit in nicely with the rest of your home. However, be warned - they can be costly. Luckily, there is a way to cut corners here too. For example, you can learn to propagate plants. That way, you can ask for cuttings from other people and grow your own plants completely free.

If you tend to travel a lot, it would be a good idea to consider buying faux greenery, that is, fake plants. They are a cheaper and easier solution. On the other hand, fresh flowers add not only a beautiful touch but also a beautiful smell to every home.

Lastly, do not forget to invest in some amazing pots, planters, vases, and baskets. They are inexpensive and will be a great addition to any room. The best part is - you can always reuse them!

Decorate Your Walls

If you want a cozy home, avoid blank walls by all means. Avoid white (sterile-looking) walls too! If this is something you are facing right now, it is time for a project. Call Movage Moving NYC and ask them to help you relocate your furniture to someplace safe, then, get paint and start painting your walls. For a comfy atmosphere, use neutral colors like beige, or some pastel colors like light blue, green, yellow, etc.

But do not stop there! Even with color, a blank wall is a blank wall. You need to decorate it. Do that by hanging some art pieces. However, if your budget does not allow it, you to make an investment as big as that, consider a cheaper alternative - copies and prints. You can even hang bookshelves, mirrors, plants, wall lamps, dream catchers, etc.

Experiment with your wall design until you make it match your cozy room perfectly.
Add Fragrance and Scent

Last but certainly not the least thing to have in mind when trying to 'cozy up' your home is its fragrance and scent. Of course, what we see and feel is important, but never underestimate the power of smell. After all, if your home looks like one of those on the cover of magazines and is filled with the most comfortable pieces of furniture and household objects, it will not be worth it if it smells like rubbish.

Thus, do not do your home injustice and disfavor, but do what is right. That is, finish cozying up your home by adding fragrance and scent to it. Luckily, again, that is an easy and simple thing to do. You just need to buy some fresh flowers, for example. Or, buy a scented candle, potpourri, or some wax melts. Choose your favorite ones, and your home will not only look comfy but will smell like that as well.

How to Spot Forex Trading Scams

Forex trading is a huge market that has an average of more than $5 trillion in trading activities. However, this market is not perfectly regulated where there is a huge opportunity for scammers to do their illegal deeds.

It is wise not to believe or trust promises of having quick fortune using secret trading formulas, forex robots that are capable of doing the trading for you, or algorithm-based trading strategies. Therefore, before you venture into the world of forex trading it is essential that you perform your due diligence and learn the different signs of how to spot scams and avoid it.

Let's go through over some typical forex trading scam examples

Numerous forex trading scams operate under the radar, while others offer their mischievous deals in plain sight. There are a lot of fake opportunities that operate across various countries across the globe and some are more common than others. Some of the most popular scams are fake forex signal sellers, dishonest scam brokers, and managed investment funds.

Always keep in mind that fake forex trading always talks sweet words, offering you amazing spreads that promise huge returns. They would even go as far and present fake testimonials.

How to spot forex trading scams

Often, forex trading scams appear too good to be true, this is how scammers make their offers attractive. This should be your first sign to look out for. You should also make our own research online for reviews and testimonials that you can find about the company. You'll be able to gather information on whether they are a scam. You can check out online forums that tell stories about how these companies operate from people that have been victimized by their operations.

How to avoid becoming a victim

You don't have to be a victim of these forex trading scammers if you know what to look out for and if you properly exercise caution in choosing your forex broker. You should always check for the company's license and it should be regulated. Authorized companies carry the ASIC, MiFID, and CySEC logos and numbers. Another thing to keep in mind is that not all forex trading companies are considered legitimate if they are listed in Google ads because any company can pay to get a spot on the search engine giant's ad spaces.

In addition, it is always better to choose forex trading companies that require a deposit, along with the terms and conditions attached to it, compared to those who offer welcome bonuses or demo accounts. Make sure that you conduct due diligence before venturing into the world of forex trading. Never work with anyone who refuses to give you enough information that would support their claims.

Furthermore, you should not be giving our personal information easily because forex trading scammers may also ask you for information such as your full name, address, email address, or phone number. Protect your personal data, especially from someone you can't trust. Always expect legitimate traders to provide you with a written risk disclosure agreement.

Dealing with Water Damage Like a Pro

Dealing with damage to your home is never easy, whether it’s small or big, the stress and the potential danger to your health will always be present. Water is one of the elements that might do harm to your living space, and these unfortunate occurrences can be very difficult to predict or detect because they are often not in your control. Risk Free Serv gave me some guidelines on how to best act when water damages a home, and what to do before asking for help from professionals, here’s what I learned:
image:shutterstock.com

Types of Water

There are three types of water that might affect your home: clean, gray, and black. Clean water is the regular water we use every day or rainwater. It's important to note that this type of water is not directly harmful and you are safe to assess the damage yourself without risk of poisoning.

Gray water or used water comes from your washing machine, toilet, or dishwasher. This water might be contaminated and it is somewhat safe to deal with if you are careful and use protective equipment.

Blackwater is dangerous, it is usually water from a sewer or a nearby river in case of floods, and dealing with it is not recommended, no matter how experienced or confident you are, this type of water is probably contaminated and dangerous and best left to the pros to handle.

Amount of Damage

Depending on how much damage was done you can measure how much you can do on your own before calling professionals. Safety is always crucial, but if you don’t want to waste any time and try to save as much as possible here are a few steps you can take to make it easier for later restoration.

Check Electricity

The first thing you want to do is to make sure you kill electricity in your home. If not entirely, then at least you can unplug all appliances, and if possible take them outside. Using appliances in a flooded home is definitely not recommended as it might cause a fire. Ensuring that everything is unplugged from the wall sockets is critical even if the electricity is currently not available in your home.

Check for Mold

Mold is one of those unwelcome guests that thrive in moist areas. A home damaged by water is ideal for its growth. Even if the damage is small, mold can easily find its way in your walls or floors and spread its infestation.

Dry the Area

This is the first step before any restoration can start. You need to remove all water from the premises by using fans or dehumidifiers to dry the place out. Open all windows and doors to enable airflow and start the process.

Throw away Porous Materials

Materials like wood which can usually be found in your floors or ceilings can become a breeding ground for mildew and the best way to deal with that is to dispose of those materials. Wood, drywall, or unsealed cement are risky and should be removed. These materials are often included in your home’s foundation and should be addressed so you can safely proceed with the restoration.

Disinfection

This is the last step before the restoration can finally begin. When all the water and porous materials are removed and when the place is dry, it’s time to disinfect your home. You can use bleach and spray affected areas to prevent mold growth, but if the damage was too big or if the water was contaminated then your safest bet is to contact professionals who have experience and equipment to best handle these situations.
