Sofa Solutions - How a Sofa Can Transform Your Living Room

Many people don’t realise the huge effect a sofa can have on their living room. From the different styles available, to all kinds of sizes and colours, there are a lot of variables to consider when you’re choosing the perfect sofa.

It’s also essential to remember that each room and each person will require something a little different. For example, the sofa you choose for a family room might be completely different to the one for the living room. Equally, a single person living alone may have very different preferences to a large family.

As a sofa can completely transform your living room, making the right decision is incredibly important. Whether you want to spruce up the space and give it a fresh aesthetic, or if you’re completely redesigning the living area, the sofa you choose will have a big effect.

Type
Although most people opt for the traditional rectangular 2-3 seater sofas, there are variables within this as well as other types available.

You can get a standard sofa that sits straight onto the floor with no gap underneath. On the other hand, you may want a sofa with short legs on each corner, as this allows a small amount of storage space between the floor and the seating.

Sofas are great for living rooms and can help transform them.

You may also want to consider investing in a corner sofa. Corner sofas really take advantage of the space available, fitting snugly into any 90-degree corner of a room.

If you really want to make your furniture functional, there is also the option of a sofa bed; a sofa that folds out into a double bed. This is a fantastic option if you don’t have a guest room, but frequently have people visiting.  Aesthetically, you usually can’t even see the difference if a sofa is also a fold out bed until you flip it open!

Finally, you may also want to consider getting a sofa that has a folding out leg rest for the edge seats; these are known as recliners.

All of these are fantastic sofa solutions that can completely transform your living room but offer very different uses and benefits.

Style
The style of sofa you choose will also have a big effect on how the sofa transforms your living room. The type will give you a basis to work from, but the style is another choice completely.

Sofas are available in a large variety of colours, designs and fabrics, so you’re sure to find something you like. While traditionally sofas are covered in fabric, leather sofas are becoming more and more popular due to them being very comfortable and easy to clean. However, leather sofas a great sofa style are generally only available in block colours, whereas the fabric can also have patterns and designs.

The style of sofa you choose will influence the overall look and feel of the living room. A leather sofa often fits well into chic and stylish room design; whereas a patterned fabric sofa might work better with a vintage, shabby chic or antique décor.

Size
The next thing to consider when choosing a sofa is the size. This is very important as it will not only determine how practical it is for guests but also how you use the room overall.

Make sure your sofa is the right size.

Firstly, you don’t want to buy a sofa that is too big for the room you are putting it in. This will immediately make the room feel smaller and look cluttered, which is never a good sofa solution. Make sure you buy a sofa that is appropriate to the room size wise; you should still have walking space, and room for anything else you might want in there, such as a TV.

Secondly, it’s definitely worth considering how many visitors you get before deciding what size sofa to buy. If you have a big family who are constantly coming and going, maximising seating is important.

On the other hand, you don’t want to feel overwhelmed with lots of unnecessary seating if there’s only you and the occasional visitor every now and then!

Conclusion
There is the perfect sofa solution for everyone out there, whatever size, colour or shape you want, you just have to consider all the factors before buying. After all, the sofa you choose could completely transform your living room so make sure you do your homework before making your final decision!
