Getting the Best Production Results

Since Motorola conceived Six Sigma more than 20 years ago in 1985, the program has gone forward from a metric system used to measure product quality to a management philosophy. Wonderful ideas developed in many companies all around the world have been embraced. Basically put in simple termsSix Sigma is a set of tools and strategies for process improvement originally established by Motorola. It came to be well known after Jack Welch made it a central focus of his business strategy at General Electric in 1995. Today Six Sigma is used in different sectors of industry.

Mechanism
What Six Sigma does is that it seeks to improve the value of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects and errors. It also minimizes variability in manufacturing and business processes. It bring into play a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods, and forms a special infrastructure of people within the organization, with titles like Champions, Black Belts, Green Belts, Orange Belts, and son and so forth, who are experts in the very complex methods. Each Six Sigma project carried out within an organization abides by ASQ Certifications a defined sequence of steps and has quantified financial targets mainly cost reduction and/or profit increase.

Origin
So where did Six Sigma spring form? This term actuallystemmed from terminology associated with manufacturing, particularly terms linked to statistical modeling of the manufacturing processes. Through this system the maturity of any manufacturing process can be illustrated by a sigma rating indicating its yield or the percentage of defect-free products it creates. A six sigma CSSBB Certification process is one in which 99.99966% of the products manufactured are statistically expected to be free of defects, although this defect level corresponds to only a 4.5 sigma level. Motorola set a goal of Six Sigma for all of its manufacturing operations, and this goal became anembodiment for the management and engineering practices used to achieve it.

Corporate incorporation
Over time many companies have adopted this doctrineand in many organizations it is used as a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. For such organizations it’s a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects and driving toward six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit in any process. It has been applied in almost all areas of production from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.

The principle
The principal objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the implementation of a measurement-based policy that focuses on process improvement and variation reduction through the application of Six Sigma improvement projects. This is brought to fruition through the use of two sub-methodologies: DMAIC and DMADV, which are executed by Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts, and overseen by Master Black Belts.

Global reception
Thousands of companies around the world have discovered the far reaching benefits of Six Sigma and many frameworks exist for implementing this methodology. Consultants all over the world have developed proprietary methodologies for implementing quality, based on the similar change management ideas and applications of tools.

The certification
In essence CompTIA A+ is an entry-level computer certification for PC computer service technicians. The exam is intended to verify the competency of entry-level PC computer service professionals in installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers. The A+ certification is underwritten by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). CompTIA Certifications is a big trade consortium, founded in 1982 and made up of resellers, odistributors, and manufacturers. It lays down voluntary guidelines dealing with business ethics and professionalism. It is also involved with numerous issues including product returns, warranty claims, and price protection.

Examination
Legitimately, CompTIAA+ is a vendor neutral certification which takes in numerous technologies and operating systems from such vendors as Microsoft, Apple Inc., Novell and some of the Linux distributions. The CompTIA A+ certification exam was first worked out in 1993. Over the years there have been five versions of this A+ exam, the 1993, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2012 objectives, which have broken down into two separate exams. The 2003 objectives included the A+ Core Hardware Exam and the A+ Core Operating System Technologies Exam. They were later retired on June 30, 2007. The 2006 objectives necessitated that a candidate successfully passed the A+ Essentials and one elective: IT technician, remote support technician, or otherwise depot technician. The 2009 certification required passing two exams: the Essentials and the Practical Application.

The A+ exam is meant for information technology experts who have the equivalent of 500 hours of hands on experience. These exams are computer based and composed of multiple choice questions, in which there may be more than one correct answer. Over 800,000 people have earned the A+ credential worldwide, to date.

Topics covered
Topics covered in the Essentials/Core examination consist of IRQs, direct memory access, and practical computer repair, including the installation and repair of hard drives, modems, network cards, CPUs, power supplies, PDAs, and printers. The center of attention of the exam is not theory, but practice. Sometimes graphics are even used in exam questions. Topics that are included in the Operating Systems examination include memory management, configuration files, and historical operating environments instead of newer, cutting edge technologies.

Benefits
CompTIA A+ certification is quite essential in the career of IT professionals. It not only braces them for better résumé profiles but is also required in many companies. We can give several examples, for instance Dell, Intel and Lenovo require it for service techs, it is also recognized by United States Department of Defense and it is an ANSI accredited Certifier – 0731Vendor-neutral which is held by 900,000 IT professionals and IT support specialists!

4 Simple Home Decor Ideas to Add Oomph to Your Home

Charlotte Moss – an Interior designer – says it best:

“There are two things that make a room timeless: a sense of history and a piece of furniture”.

We concur. In fact, we’d go on to add a lot more to that simple statement Charlotte makes.  To make your home really work, we’d throw in tasteful minimalism, fantastic art, little trinkets, various knickknacks, and possibly simple finishing touches to your home décor.

Choose mood. Set it up

The first step to essential home décor is to decide the mood, lighting, and many other basics. Some timeless necessities remain: you’ll need proper lighting – both natural and artificial. Window shutters, drapes, and vertical blinds can help you regulate natural sunshine flooding into your room. As for artificial lighting, there’s no dearth of lighting fixtures, floor lamps, table lamps, lights embedded into false ceilings, and many other ideas to make your home stand out.

Less is good. Avoid Clutter.

There’s a reason minimalism works: too much of anything is clutter. That holds good for life in general and for rooms in particular. Exercising restraint is an elegant exercise. It keeps your rooms serene, peaceful, quiet, and allow for light, sound, and air to flow.

Choose simple furniture; avoid trying to fill up every inch of space with something. Much like white space between reams of text – or in the belly of intricate design – empty space renders simplicity to your home décor.

Windows need dressing. Always

Bare, open, undressed windows make your home look bare. Further, you’d have no privacy from roving eyes of strangers while adding to the risk of attracting more attention from those with malicious intent to intrude. Windows, needless to say, are best covered when not open.

Curtains are old-fashioned. Even standard shutters might look a little outdated (depending on your original home design and décor). For a change, you can try out some inexpensive vertical blinds.  Further, vertical blinds have textures and they come in a variety of colors to allow you to match them with your overall color theme.

Hunt for home furnishings. Like, Forever.

If you go out looking, you’ll have plenty of elegant home furnishing objects to shop for. While you don’t have to trade in your money for Aztec art or ancient Buddhist relics, you’d find plenty of handmade pottery and plenty of other objects to dig out your choices from. For instance, Realsimple.com has a beautiful list of at least forty elegant home furnishings that can make your visitors go, “wow”.

What would you like to do today to add that extra touch of personality to your home?
