1. Add Magic of Lights

You don’t want to buy big furniture, painting, flooring, etc. But you can certainly invest into creative lighting.

You don’t have to spend much, but you can buy a number of them – the inexpensive lower-wattage ones, and arrange them in such a way that they will change the mood of the room, delightful, romantic, soft, soothing, and so on.

When you add the magic of light, your guests may hardly notice many other deformities in the room’s decoration.

2. Add Nature’s Beauty

Adding small house plants is a fantastic and economical way to make your home transformed and enriched. And the plants need not be pricey. You can even grow them from the vegetable and fruit remnants if you want.

First grow them by keeping the cut-outs of vegetables and fruits like carrot, potato, pineapple, avocado, etc, in plain water and once offshoots grow, transfer into small decorative pots and place the pots around the house wherever sunlight enters. Plants make spaces look rich!

3. What will You Do of Floors?

Your floors are important too, just as walls and ceilings. If you cannot afford to change them, consider staining or sanding wooden floors or replacing the old carpet or linoleum with tiles.

Area rug can be a quick fix. You can make your floors stand out in this economical way and that will change the whole look of the rooms.

4. Hide Things Effectively

A home regularly produces things which you don’t want to be seen by your guests but don’t want to throw away too, e.g. old beddings, books, clothes, bottles of cleaning solutions, brooms and more. You will have to find spaces where you can keep these things out of sight.

Spaces underneath beds, staircases etc can be added decorative cabinets in which you can store these things.

5. Make Use of Old Fabrics to Create New Colourful Decoration

When your old clothes are worn out, not all parts of them wear away. Throw away the worn out parts and keep the good ones. Join these parts from miscellaneous fabrics together to create fun, bright, lively patterns and colours.

You can use them for window treatments, covers for sofas, chairs and pillows, and more. They can be of use to add a colour riot to old throw pillows and drapes through a creative patchwork. Instead of buying altogether new drapery and pillows, this is much more economical and looks just fabulous.

6. Illusionary Architectural Patterns

If you have a creative quirk, you can add illusionary architectural patterns that will make your rooms look bigger; e.g. paint vertical or horizontal lines using painter’s tape, or draw squares and rectangles to form shapes of boxes for framing out your favourite pictures or sconces.

And you can even create fake windows on walls with your favourite scene shown through it. You can create illusions of dimension and depth to the walls with moulding.

Great Ways to Organize your Garage and Carport

Garages and carports help to improve the appearance of a home and provide additional storage for cars and other items. You need to undertake careful planning and consider certain important factors when building a garage or carport. An excessively large garage takes up usable space on your property while a very small garage limits your uses. One of the most important factor in knowing how to build a carport is proper planning.
Minimum Sizes
Most single-car garages measure 12 feet wide by 22 feet long. In addition, the minimum size of a two-car garage is 18ft wide by 22ft long. These are the recommended minimum garage door dimensions for individuals who plan to limit their storage primarily on automobiles, leaving little room for walking.

Items to Store in a Garage
Make a list of all the items that you would like to store in your garage. Common items stored in garages include sports equipment, lawnmowers, and tools among others. Put these items in mind when determining the size of your garage or carport. Creating the list of items to store in a garage can also help you determine if your garage requires shelves.

Types of Vehicles
Consider the size of the vehicle you would like to store in your garage. Measure the size of the vehicle with doors open and closed. Consider if you will need a bigger vehicle in future. If you will be storing additional items in the garage such as boats and trailers, consider the size of these items as well.

Walking Space
Determine the amount of space you need in your garage with all items present. Park your vehicles in an open area and then place all the items you plan to store in your garage around the vehicles to determine the amount of walking space you will need in your garage. Leave at least four feet of space between each vehicle. Measure the total amount of space covered by the vehicles and the items.

Available Land Space
Find out how much land will be left available after you have built your garage in your property. Make sure your garage is not too close to adjacent properties in your residential area. If your house is located in the country, determine the extent of vegetation clearance to be done to create enough space for the new garage.

Carport Requirements
A carport provides adequate vehicle storage for people whose homes are not large enough to accommodate a garage but still want to protect their vehicles from the elements. The design and dimensions of your carport will be determined by your area’s locality. Consider your neighborhood’s by laws, community rules, and state building codes when building a carport.

Structural Requirements
Some states require carports to be fully open on both sides while others do not require carports to be open. State laws also determine the type of lumber grade that will be used on the framing of the carport. Some of the most common carport hardware include copper, silicon bronze, galvanized steel and stainless steel. Concrete used on the base of the structure should sustain pressures of at least 2,500 psi.

Declutter Your Home after a House Party in 5 Easy Steps

We have all wanted to throw a really awesome house party all of our friends will be talking about for years. Let us say you have thrown that unforgettable party and your house was packed full of people, what do you do afterwards? Do you still have enough energy to scour the house to make sure that the carpetcleaning you just had for your Sunshine Coast home was not wasted?

Well, if you’re having a hard time figuring out how to declutter your home after a massive house party, here are easy steps to declutter your house of all the party mess.

Start at the Living Room

This is where most of your guests would have been during the party, so concentrate on this area first. Collect plastic cups, plates, bottles, and any garbage that is dry. You need to be able to clear the area of the dry ones before you begin mopping and wiping with a wet rag. Put all of these dry clutter in a garbage bag and then put them aside. Assess the kinds of stain and spots you will need to clean. You need to do the wiping twice, first with a wet rag and then the second time with a dry rag so that you can vacuum the place afterwards. Vacuum carpets, rugs, sofas, and curtains.
Next is the Dining Room and the Kitchen

Expect to get wet while you are cleaning these portions of the house. Just like in the living room, clear out all the dry garbage, put them inside a bag, and then put them aside. Leftovers that are on the plate are dirty already, so you need to throw these out as well in a separate garbage bag. Then to be a bit organized, clear out the plates and utensils neatly by grouping them, and it depends on you according to what.

The same thing should be done in the kitchen since the food mostly came from here. Dry garbage first, then dirty leftovers, and the organize plates and utensils. Once you’re done organizing, you can now start washing them. You will notice how helpful it is to organize what you will wash first because it helps you figure out which pile is the most complicated to wash and which pile to prioritize.
After the washing is done, sweep and mop the floors of the kitchen and the dining room.

Bedrooms

There instances when the people you invite will need to stay over until after the party because they’re from far away. The people you invite will try to leave the room as clean as they can get it to be, but you shouldn’t neglect it because there’s always some cleaning to do in a used room. First thing you do is strip the sheets and cases off of the bed and the pillows, set them aside for washing later. Look for garbage you need to clear out, and put them in a bag. Before leaving the room, vacuum the floors and curtains, and make sure your guests did not leave anything behind.

Bathroom

Just like in the kitchen, expect to get wet while cleaning the bathroom. After a big house party, the bathroom will always need cleaning. The first thing you do is to clear out the bins first, especially if you see that it is filling up. Then clear all your items inside the bathroom. Proceed with cleaning the bathroom with your preferred bathroom cleaning solutions. Use a disinfectant cleaner especially on the toilet to kill germs and bacteria.

Put all the garbage bags in a container outside

Now that you’re able to clean all the rooms in your house, get the garbage bags you have been putting aside and place them all in their respective containers outside of your house so that it will be ready when the garbage man collects it.
Cleaning your house in chunks will be easy for you if you do it by chunks because it enables you to clean one room at a time. If you start cleaning your house this way, you will never look at it as a tedious chore; rather, an important task that can be enjoyable.

Security shutters
Advantages of Window Blinds and Shutters

  • Highest quality products and great prices are the rule of the day as far as window shutters and blinds go. You will be spoilt for choice in this respect. Windows are simple holes in the room so that sunlight and air can penetrate and make it livable. However it is the upholstery and the blinds or shutters that add life into the windows. The Window Blinds and Shutters are imperative to keep out the sunlight and the strong winds from entering the room. Even though these blinds and shutters keep out the winds, yet these aren’t very strong ones. Some of the wooden ones are permanent fixtures.
  • Versatile – These window blinds and shutters are completely versatile. There are many options regarding the colors, hues, textures, shades etc. Blinds are of various types and so are shutters. Some shutters are automated, some are manual driven. Sometimes, anti-drop devices are installed for better safety. You can search from multiple window blinds and shutters, if you contact blinds and shutter dealers from local classifieds or from online advertisements.

Adjusting the slats when the shutters are closed:

The slats for window blinds and shutters can be adjusted according to the measurement of windows, and they are also available in different colors, shapes and made of different materials, so that you can install these for your domestic and official purpose.

  • Most of the window shutters come in aluminum metal. This is durable, light and most preferred mode of shutter that is possible. This means that heat retention can be done in winters and in summers cooling can happen. Temperature modulation is possible by using different material for the drapes or the blinds.
  • Shutters offer a more streamline look for the house. The louvers are controlled by the center or the rear tilt bar and this gives a seamless look all over. There are eclipse shutters that are available in the market to add the benefit of energy efficiency. These are UV resistant and this can be used in moisture retention areas too. Shutters offer a greater degree of control over light and airflow unlike blinds where there is not much control.

Tips to choose Window Shutters or Blinds

  • Blinds don’t exercise dual control over airflow and privacy just like the way shutters do. Shutters are stronger than blinds in keeping out the forces of nature. Blinds add more to the aesthetic value to the home and are more preferred due to their decorative value. Shutters are more use specific and sturdy in comparison to blinds
  • Blinds are more or less a tad different than shutters. They differ greatly in matters of material, look and value. A Californian shutter has greater aesthetic value than a blind which even though looks good but is a cheaper alternative to shutters in the end.

Blinds, due to their material and textures used, offer minimal insulation and energy efficiency benefits. Shutters on the other hand offer more thermal insulation and protection against strong winds. These cut costs while using energy. Click the link where you get all the necessary information about Window Blinds and Shutters.
