Carpet Cleaning Techniques with Their Advantages and Disadvantages

There’s a range of carpet cleaning techniques used by both households and cleaning companies.  Every type of rug cleaning shows typical pros and cons. This post will help you pick what you think is best for your carpet cleaning.  UrbanQuote Carpet Cleaning presents to you the perceived advantages and disadvantages.

Basically, carpet cleaning approach has two classifications: the dry and the wet carpet cleaning.  Dry cleaning uses chemical substances or foams with special machines.  It also uses pads, rotating brushes and cylinders.
On the contrary, wet cleaning uses both hot water extraction and absorbent pad cleaning.

DRY CLEANING

A.  Using absorbent compound
Powder that has been mixed with cleaning agents and special solvents is applied on the carpet.  It works into the fibers with the help of a special machine that has counter spinning brushes. Then the powder will absorb the dirt within ten to fifteen minutes of cleaning. The final part of the cleaning is vacuuming up.

Advantages
  • Cleaning system is simple, requiring no special technical skills.
  • Drying is fast.  Within twenty minutes, the carpet can be dried and be back on its place.
Disadvantages
  • Powder can get trapped through the carpet and can build up eventually.
  • It can become the source of extreme amount of dust in the house.
  • It can’t do enough deep cleaning.

B.  Use of dry foam or spinning shampoo method
Foaming surfactant is spread out on the carpet to prompt soil suspension. It is whipped on the foam and used in carpet fiber’s cleaning, along with the spinning brushes.  After several minutes, vacuuming will extract the foam.

Advantages
  • Easy to apply and cheap in price.
  • Perfect agitation with spinning brushes.
  • Little amount of wetness offers quick carpet drying.
Disadvantages
  • High temperature not normally attained.
  • Can’t obtain complete soil extraction under the surface part of the carpet.
  • Probability of too much wetting when machine mal-functions.
  • New brush may ruin carpet fibers.

WET CLEANING

1. Deep-steam cleaning or hot-water extraction
Carpet needs to be pre-conditioned first with chemical agent to liquefy the soil.  At water’s boiling point and 50 to 500 psig pressures, they’ll be injected through the carpet, allowing them to stay ten to fifteen minutes. Carpet dirt is taken out by vacuuming.

Advantages
  •  Removes soiling from the carpet.
  • It uses high temperature, chemical substance and pressures.
  • Chemical reactivity made easy by using extraction wand or grooming tool.
  • Widely used and recommended by experts and carpeting industry.
Disadvantages
  • Longer time to dry, but can be minimized by using a powerful machine.
  • It has higher cost factors.
  • Costly equipment is normally required for ultimate efficiency.
2.  Cleaning by using absorbent pad
This one is most commonly known as bonnet cleaning.  It’s often used for regular light maintenance but also for carpet cleaning in a regular basis.   Initially, carpet is vacuumed then it’s sprayed with the chemical solution allowing it to stay for minutes.  Absorbent bonnet is placed on floor machine’s drive block and spun on the surface of the carpet.  It saturates the carpet with the chemical solution for cleaning the soil.

Advantages
  • Cheap, simple and quick.
  • Perfect results for slightly soiled carpeting.
Disadvantages
  •  Cannot reach deeper portion of the carpet. Can clean only the top 30% of the carpet.
  • With chemical residue and dirt below the carpet (at the backing).
Most likely, you’ll be advised to see these pros and cons before picking the method you want to use in cleaning your carpet.

5 Reasons Why Serviced Apartments are Favorite Amongst the Youth

Serviced apartments are one of the most favored accommodation options these days. These housing options are meant to be for temporary stays and are mostly preferred by expatriates in a particular. Over the years, hotels and guest houses were the housing options that were flocked by people who visited a city for a short duration of time. However, the real estate domain took a turn and brought in an idea of serviced apartments. These apartments have all the facilities managed within a small area; kitchen, bedroom and living areas all laid in a strategic manner.

1.   More Space, Less Clutter

A serviced apartment is often compared to a plush hotel room but the former is a little more advantageous here. The apartments are well-laid in terms of structure and designs, which set it class apart from rest of the options meant for temporary stay. An individual, who is new to a city for work or for some urgent work that runs for a set duration, can easily consider serviced apartments. The hotel rooms have fewer amenities and thus are not successful to provide all the comforts to the dwellers.

2.   The Number of Occupants

Once the individual starts living in a serviced apartment for a given time, the place becomes equivalent to his/her permanent home. A hotel room can have a given number of occupants and anything more than that asks for extra bucks. This is something not linked to the similarly positioned serviced flats. Though temporary, but a serviced apartment can be treated like one’s home and thus can accommodate the whole family without any constraints.

3.   The ‘Home-Like’ Ambience

On a trip or professional assignment tagged for shorter time duration, an individual can experience a feel-like-home atmosphere in a serviced apartment. Unlike hotel rooms, where the amenities and choices have restrictions set on them, serviced apartments have all the amenities, facilities and rooms exactly like that of a home. Moreover, the individual who is living in the apartment can choose the location as per the personal demand as well.

4.   Adds the ‘Chic’ Factor to Lifestyle

Serviced apartments are gradually gaining popularity amongst the youth and new generation professionals who roam about places for work. The young renters and buyers have dynamic demands and look out for place that not only gives them shelter but appears to be an extension of their personality. It is for this reason that these housing options are popular in cities with high youth migration rate, for instance, serviced apartments in Bangalore and cities in same vein like Mumbai and Pune have gained huge popularity in the recent years.

5.   The Price Factor

An individual would have to bear more expenses if he chooses to stay in a hotel room rather than an apartment; rather serviced apartment. For the same area, an inhabitant would have to pay less for a serviced flat with all the amenities. Moreover, if the individual chooses to stay in a hotel room then not only he will have to pay extra for his extended stay but also have the bear the expenses for requested amenities that are not there initially. A serviced apartment is usually built across an area of 400-450 square feet and would a lot cheaper than a hotel room or even an extended stay in the same.

Indian real estate domain has taken a new turn with the advent of serviced apartment. The millennium witnessed a growing number of young buyers and serviced apartments are something that has boosted the numbers to even a high number.
