How to Pack Your Computer Away Appropriately

You may find yourself in a situation where you need to pack your computer away in order to remove it. Whether it is due to a change of home and you are planning on taking your domestic computer with you, or whether it is during an office removal, a computer removal is required. This can be more troubling for some than others, especially if you have never had to go through the experience of packing one. Worry not! This article aims to provide you with all the information you need in regards to packing your computer away safely in order to transport it to its new location effectively and successfully.

Before you can start packing, you need to ensure that your computer has been prepared. This means taking care of simple things such as ensuring that your computer is switched off, empty, backed up, dismantled e.g. Once you have done all of the preparation, the packing can begin.

The first thing to consider is what to pack your computer in. If you are one of those people who tends to keep all electrical item boxes, then you may still have your computer box gathering dust in the attic or the garage. Great! Using the original box in which the computer came not only provides you with the perfect storage and transport box, but also means that you will have your chance to do your bit for the environment and recycle.

If you do not have the original box, you need to ensure that you purchase/borrow some. When doing so, there are a few things you need to consider. First of all, you need to make sure that the box is made up of sturdy cardboard so that you know that it is strong enough to hold the weight of your computer. Secondly, you need to consider its size. No box should be over packed, so do not invest in a super large box with the intention of throwing everything into it. Purchase more than one box, of the correct size. A box which is too small will not be able to be closed, meaning that your computer is provided with no protection should that box fall etc. A box which is too large will provide a lot of additional room for your computer to move, which is once again not what you want. The more your computer can move around, the more likely it is to get damaged. Try to get a box sized as closely to the size of the machinery as possible.

Another necessity which should be thought of is protective wrapping. This can be in the form of bubble wrap or Styrofoam/Styrofoam popcorn. This is going to provide extra padding and protection.

When you are actually packing the items, ensure that you do so correctly. The CPU should be wrapped and packed into the box in an upright position. Special care needs to be taken to the motherboard, which should be flat at all times.
Computer monitors are very delicate, so once again these need to be wrapped in bubble wrap or placed in a box which has been lines with Styrofoam. This is to avoid causing any damage to the screen, which is very expensive to replace (often you may need to buy a whole new monitor). Once again these should be packed in an upright position.

Wires should be packed together and labelled accordingly. All additional boxes should also be labelled to ensure that you know what each box contains.
Voila! Your computer is ready for transport.

That’s really useful for me. The computer is the quick broken thing. Because we should wrap it as protective. This article clearly describes how to wrap it.
